Hedvika Miller - Piano, Music Theory, Singing

Hedvika Miler
I come from a musical family.  My mother was a classical music piano teacher and my father was a professional piano player.  My mother was strict on teaching piano based on music theory and using the proper hand technic.  My father played by ear and prefered jazz, singing and improvisation. I started playing piano at a very early age.  I don’t remember exactly when, because it  has always been a part of my life.

When I was eight years old I was accepted to the School of the Arts in the Czech Republic and entered the third level, as a result of piano lessons with my mother.  I continued my education and in 1990, I graduated from the University of Hradec Kralove College of Education with a Masters Degree in Musical Education.  I started teaching piano at the age of seventeen and continued teaching music for another fifteen years until 1998, when I moved to the USA.  In 1999, I started teaching private piano lessons in Huntersville, North Carolina.  In 2000, I started the music program at the Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy School of excellence for highly gifted students located in Charlotte.

Over the past seven years I developed a curriculum which included music history, theory, chorus, singing, dance, recorders and guitar. I enjoyed my time at MRSA very much, however, the growth of my private piano lessons made me realize that it was time to start my own music school.

Gil Gatch - Guitar, Piano, Singing

gil photo 1.jpgMy heart is to invest in the life of the student while we learn. I want to listen to the student’s desires, encourage them in their strong areas and help them gain the confidence it takes to work through their weaknesses. All musicians must have someone believe in them. I want my students to know that I do believe in them.

I was born and raised in the beautiful, historic city of Charleston, SC. I began vocal training at a very early age with my mom who like her mother and grandmother, majored in voice and piano at Winthrop University. I started singing in choir from the time I could talk. I began taking piano lessons at the age of 8 until I picked up a guitar and started writing music of my own.

Surrounded by phenomenal musicianship in the city of Charleston, it wasn’t long before I was picked up by a management team who began negotiating record deals with Warner Bros. and Universal for my music. We also began negotiating with the touring management and legal representation of John Mayer. These teams had taken a large interest in my voice and writing style.

For three years I toured and played with musicians like Copeland, Butch Walker, Mae, 7 mary 3, Shinedown, Howie Day, Jump Little Children, Evoka, and The Films, playing shows in open air stadium, small underground clubs and even events like the July 4th celebration at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

I was learning every day what it meant to be a performer in the popular world. I continued my vocal training with Jan Smith of Atlanta (vocal coach of Usher, India Arie, Rob Thomas and more) and recorded in Tree Sound Studios A room where The Strokes, Elton John, and Outkast have recorded their multi-platinum projects as well.

Three years ago, I moved to Charlotte to be the Music Director of a local church.  I am currently writing, recording, performing, and teaching music professionally.

I have been singing professionally for 20 years and teaching 10. I studied voice at Ohio University, University of Akron, and the Cleveland Institute of Music as well as taking private instruction over the last 20 years.

I have sung lead in a variety of bands over the years and I am currently the lead singer for The Band of Gold, a popular area Beach and Oldies band. I am also an alumna of Carolina Voices, former the Charlotte Choral Society, which brings the Singing Christmas Tree to life every holiday season.

Henry Loudermilk - Piano, Guitar, Saxaphone

Henry,_piano_teacher Small.jpg

I believe a strong foundation in theory and technique is paramount to being an excellent  musician. I believe learning music vertically as well as horizontally makes for a more complete musician. Understanding the harmony associated with the melody opens one up to endless possibilities. I believe training the ears to listen and hear the changes harmonically as well as melodically is more critical than reading. At some point you have stop reading and start listening in order to really hear what you are playing.

I have been teaching piano, guitar, and beginning saxaphone for 24 years and have numerous references from satisfied students and parents.

ART INSTRUCTORS
Pete Goode - Drawing / Creative Design

I am a graphic designer from NC.  As a graduate of ECU's School of Art, I've spent many years developing my skills in visual art & design.  These skills continually employed in my role as Creative Director for Goode Design.

http://www.goode-design.net

Through the business, my day is filled with visual expression. Whether we're creating a brochure, web site or sketching concepts for logos, I continually draw from the most basic disciplines from my first art class.

I've always had an affinity for all things creative.  My degree in graphic design has allowed me to continue art & creativity forward into a professional career.  My world is filled with sketchbooks, journals & photographs of inspiration.  As with many creative professionals, I feel it's imperative to practice & hone skills on a daily basis.  For artists, the creations we produce become our probing into the world in which we live.

I look forward to guiding a journey into a new drawing experience with the team at Ludmila. During our class, we will develop skills in seeing, understanding & drawing.  Our instructional time will contain foundational exercises that we will build into final projects to demonstrate our progress. Over time, we will create artwork that will fully display the creative potential of the students.
